Fred Laker obtained his B Tech (Civil Eng) degree in 1995.

He started his career in the construction industry with EU Civils in 1990 and joined Aurecon as Contract and Project Manager for the period 1994 to 2001.

Fred joined Lyners as Technical Director and Hoheizen Office Manager in November 2001 and became a shareholder in 2003.

Fred is a Professional Registered Civil Engineering Technologist, a Professional Registered Construction Project Manager and a member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering.

His area of experience and expertise includes the planning, master plan development, conceptual design, design, tender documentation, procurement and management of contracts of a wide variety of engineering projects up to a value of R 400 million in both the private and public sectors.

Fred is the Paarl Office Manager of, as well as the IT director for Lyners and has been very involved with the Western Cape Chapter of SAICE since the early 2000’s.
