The project included preliminary investigations on the work required by the client, cost estimations on the different options of achieving the required work, feasibility studies, preliminary and detail designs on the final scope of work agreed upon, construction supervision and project management applicable to the electrification of informal households in Caledon for Theewaterskloof Municipality. The complete tender process, including tender documentation, tender advertisements, tender clarification meeting, dealing with tender queries, compiling of tender evaluation report after tender closing, as well as confirmation on the appointment of the contractor were also managed.
Assistance was also provided with the adherence of the contractor to the Occupational Health and Safety regulations of 2014, including assistance with the appointment of an agent, to act on behalf of the Municipality, as well as ensuring that the contractor has submitted a site specific OH&S plan for the project. The technical details of the work required under this appointment included a new electricity network for 700 informal houses consisting of overhead 11kV lines, underground 11kV cables, miniature substations, overhead low voltage networks and underground consumer connections.
